About This Role

Provide hands-on care and medication assistance to residents in a senior living community, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being within a safe, home-like environment.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for a designated group of residents, monitoring their location and checking on them throughout the shift
• Observe, report, and document changes in resident condition, including skin, behavior, alertness, weight, diet, and activity participation
• Respond promptly to security system alerts and resident call bells
• Notify supervisors or Health Care Coordinators of increased resident care needs
• Assist with continence management and dispose of products properly for sanitation
• Serve and collect food trays, assisting as needed and reporting meal refusals or loss of appetite
• Maintain cleanliness of resident's room and work areas, practicing standard care precautions
• Help residents maintain independence and promote their dignity and physical safety
• Actively participate in and assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating)
• Engage residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities
• Assist/observe medications and treatments for each resident using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass
• Document and initial forms as medications are given, including appropriate documentation for refusal or missed doses
• Restock medication cart after all medication passes
• Count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift
• Maintain and clean the Medication Room, med charts, and treatment carts for neatness and availability of medications

Requirements

• Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) or 80-hour PCA Certification
• NC 15-Hour Medtech training certification
• Passed NC Medtech exam
• High School diploma/GED
• Must be 18 years of age

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED
• Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
