This role involves leading mechanical design engineering for custom machinery and equipment, driving innovation, precision, and problem-solving. The engineer will design solutions meeting high performance, safety, and quality standards, collaborating across disciplines to bring designs to life.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of mechanical design engineering for custom machinery and equipment
- Develop, update, and refine 2D and 3D drawings, incorporating redline changes and engineering change requests (ECRs)
- Interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, sales drawings, and complex 3D models to ensure accurate and compliant designs
- Apply engineering principles to research, design, and evaluate mechanical systems, components, and processes
- Recommend and implement design modifications to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Conduct feasibility studies, performance analyses, and operational evaluations to validate design concepts
- Investigate equipment failures or operational issues and provide actionable recommendations
- Explore alternative design concepts, materials, and processing methods to enhance product performance or reduce cost
- Approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases with attention to accuracy and compliance
- Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while maintaining timelines and quality standards
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience, or 7+ years of progressively responsible mechanical design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical specifications, engineering documents, and blueprints
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with mathematical concepts including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry
- Ability to apply engineering and mathematical principles to real-world design challenges
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate non-standardized situations
- Ability to interpret and follow written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years of relevant experience, or 7+ years of progressively responsible mechanical design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
