About This Role

Design, prepare specifications, and review mechanical systems for power generation facilities. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing guidance to junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities
  • Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations
  • Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data, interfacing with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers
  • Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines
  • Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems
  • Participate in the development of PFD’s and P&ID's
  • Perform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design
  • Execute project work on multiple concurrent projects, assisting with equipment installation, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or opportunities
  • Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level risk installation, equipment operations, and/or mitigation activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant post education experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities
  • Engineer in Training Certification
  • Working knowledge of Microstation or Auto CAD
  • Working knowledge of Smart Plant 3D or CADworx
  • Experience using Caesar II or AutoPipe
  • Experience using Thermoflow
  • Working knowledge of relevant mechanical system and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
  • Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles
  • Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses
  • Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on construction and design of facilities, structures and systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant post education experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification
  • Power plant design experience
  • Renewable natural gas plant design experience
