Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms, radioactive seed localization, and stereotactic core needle breast biopsies. This role involves patient history collection, equipment operation, and assisting radiologists, while ensuring adherence to safety and quality control standards.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient history, prior films/reports, and other supportive information
- Perform screening mammography for periodic or baseline examinations
- Perform diagnostic mammograms on patients with identified breast problems or for continued follow-up
- Perform Quality Control needed for FDA/ACR
- Set up sterile fields and arrange necessary instruments and supplies for Radiologist during Radioactive Seed Localization Procedures
- Position patient and set exposure factors, assisting the radiologist in skin preparation and needle placement during Radioactive Seed Localization Procedures
- Prepare the patient and set up sterile fields for Stereotactic Core Needle Breast Biopsy procedures
- Work with mammogram letters (results/reminders)
- Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms
- Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel
- Practice infection control and standard precautions
- Coordinate patient and workflow efficiency
- Assist in training of radiography students
- Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and mutual respect
- Provide the highest quality patient care by placing the needs of the patient first
- Maintain flexibility to staff various work locations, shift times, and lengths
- Direct and practice safety guidelines for self, other staff members, and patients while keeping radiation exposure as low as reasonably achievable
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited Radiography program
- License in Radiography (R) within appropriate State
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registration in Radiography (R)
Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited Radiography program
- Entry level with one year radiographer experience preferred
Nice to Have
- One year radiographer experience
- Associate's degree
- Knowledge and experience with Mammography equipment and procedures
