Maintenance Engineer

About This Role

Responsible for the preventative and repair of the hotel’s mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and for the general maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant, FF&E, grounds, and swimming pool. This role ensures the safety of the work environment and performs various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other hotel equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a schedule basis (e.g., “room care”)
• Service the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; complete maintenance request forms and record logs
• Maintain the building exterior and “curb appeal” (e.g., lawn care, painting, and gardening)
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Follow safety and security procedures and rules
• Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to supervisor
• Assist other Engineering Personnel when needed
• Perform any related duties as requested by supervisor/manager

Requirements

• Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry
• Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment
• Ability to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems and act accordingly
• Skill in the use of basic hand and electric tools and familiarity with parts and materials
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions
• Ability to listen effectively, speak, read and write English clearly

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
