Maintenance Engineer

About This Role

This role is responsible for overseeing the safe operation, daily monitoring, and maintenance of refrigeration, HVAC, and electrical systems across multiple commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities. The position involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing various equipment, ensuring a clean and healthy indoor environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance of refrigeration storage equipment at multiple locations
• Monitor and maintain controls and electric (high and low voltage) systems
• Check, drain, and fill oil levels as needed, and perform oil analysis
• Change filters and check/adjust/replace belts as needed
• Check compressors, condensers, and their cycle operations
• Log time and materials into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) daily
• Check, change, or fill water treatment chemical levels
• Oversee and manage Refrigeration, Electrical, and HVAC systems including monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairs
• Evaluate and report equipment condition and implement energy management strategies
• Complete small electrical repairs and brazing projects as needed
• Daily communication of pertinent information regarding system operation and maintenance to management
• Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of refrigeration machine rooms and project areas
• Interpret and understand plans, specifications, schematics, and manuals for systems
• Perform HVAC system inspections, adjustments, repairs, and maintenance, including using automated management systems
• Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring in HVAC equipment
• Carry out preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on HVAC equipment
• Perform appliance repairs and non-refrigeration tasks like light carpentry, plumbing, light bulb changes, and minor electrical device repair
• Maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe working order
• Maintain technical skills and required certifications
• Complete and document tickets or work orders in the system

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 4+ years of related experience or education
• EPA 608 certification
• Knowledge of controls and electric (high and low voltage)
• Ability to interpret plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals
