This role involves overseeing the daily operations of the Learn to Swim Program, guiding instructors, and ensuring the safety of all participants for the City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Aquatics team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all operations of the Grapevine Learn to Swim Program and staff
- Process participant registrations, cancellations, and prorations using a computer-based system via email, phone, and walk-in
- Promote public relations with facility users and participants by being available during class times and maintaining office hours
- Perform general maintenance and housekeeping in the aquatic facility
- Ensure the safety of class participants and staff, specifically monitoring weather conditions and pool chemicals
- Complete chemical checklists and tests, record them as directed by the Recreation Maintenance Supervisor, and notify of any issues
- Determine and enforce safety measures in and around the pool; supervise staff activity and delegate tasks to achieve department objectives
- Conduct pre-season, during season, and post-season in-service training as required by the department
- Supervise lifeguards during Learn to Swim class times and fill in for Pool Management as needed
- Produce a bi-weekly staff schedule for each swim session
- Print and assemble class rosters and checklists for all aquatic classes
- Verbally communicate aquatic policies with staff members, public, swim lesson participants, and parents effectively
- Report any issues, concerns, or customer complaints to the Aquatic Programs Coordinator
Requirements
- Minimum of three months of swim lesson teaching experience
- Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification or equivalent
- Ability to work outdoors in high heat and humidity
- Pass a Federal/National criminal background check
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Qualifications
- Minimum of three months of swim lesson teaching experience is required. No prior experience as a Learn to Swim Coordinator required.

- Lifeguard Instructor certification
