Lake Parks Assistant II - Outdoor Summer Camp Counselor

About This Role

This role involves assisting in planning, organizing, and leading various recreational programs, camps, and activities for school-age children in a lake parks setting. The assistant will implement daily operations of seasonal day camps and ensure safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and leading various recreational programs, camps, activities, special events and projects associated with Lake Parks
• Implement daily operations of seasonal day camps and provide direction to staff for daily camp activities
• Coordinate with City departments, community organizations, volunteers and school districts regarding facility availability and scheduling
• Provide quality customer service, greet the public, answer telephones, and register participants
• Ensure the safety of all visitors and participants in programs and facilities
• Drive City vehicles as needed to transport program materials and people
• May operate point of sale system and clean/prepare facilities for events
• Complete various reports and submit them to the appropriate supervisor
• Interact professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to work outdoors in high heat and humidity
• Physical ability to set up tables, chairs, and equipment
• Leadership skills to coordinate staff and school-age children
• Flexibility to work various times, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Comfort with Windows-based computer systems
• Must obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
• Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
