Lead Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food following standard recipes and guidelines while ensuring food safety and sanitation procedures are met. This role involves supervising staff, delegating tasks, and maintaining a high standard of food preparation and kitchen cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and assign daily work activities to staff and supervise task completion
- Train and guide staff on job duties, food safety, sanitation procedures, and cooking methods
- Cook and prepare food following production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- Safely use all food utensils including knives
- Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
- Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meats, vegetables, and other foods
- Arrange, garnish, and portion food following established guidelines
- Properly store food by following food safety policies and procedures
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintain excellent customer service with a positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, and co-workers
- Follow Aramark safety policies and procedures including food safety and sanitation
- Ensure security of company assets
- Produce and maintain work schedules and prepare production records
Requirements
- Experience as a cook or related role
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Proven knowledge of basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations
- Food safety certification
- Basic math and counting skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Qualifications
- Experience as a cook or related role required. Previous supervisor experience in a related role preferred.
