Lab Support Technician I

About This Role

This Lab Support Technician I (LST I) role is a vital part of the laboratory team, responsible for providing accurate, timely, and effective support for reports, data, and scheduling. The LST I will perform skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens, ensuring safe and professional methodologies while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely, and effective provision of laboratory support for reports, data, and scheduling functions
• Exhibit excellent customer service skills with all internal and external customer interactions
• Skillfully acquire laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, and professional methodologies
• Observe HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies during specimen acquisition
• Process, transport, and refer all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required
• Complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position and be observed by laboratory management or designee to achieve competencies
• Perform duties and responsibilities consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and Service Standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of probationary period
• No active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement plans

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to Have

• College level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory
