Inventory Specialist

About This Role

Execute and monitor inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for both front end and pharmacy operations, ensuring on-shelf availability and accuracy of inventory records. You will also manage customer experience and execute various operational tasks related to inventory.

Responsibilities

• Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and SOPs for front end and pharmacy
• Support pharmacy inventory management activities including receiving, counting, ordering, and returns
• Champion On-Shelf Availability and manage all in-store inventory processes
• Validate and ensure accuracy of planograms
• Review and coordinate proper use of reports and system applications impacting inventory accuracy and pricing
• Execute and maintain front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques, filing claims for discrepancies
• In designated stores, open and close the store in absence of store management
• Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance, resolving issues when serving as leader on duty
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members
• Execute and coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes
• Scan all deliveries, focusing on One Box receiving, and address delivery issues
• Under pharmacist supervision, verify and post all pharmacy shipments and orders
• Complete On-Shelf Availability (OSA) end-to-end process including disposals, call-ins, and vendor returns
• Under pharmacist supervision, complete pharmacy inventory activities like recalls and excess inventory returns
• Complete execution of all pricing activities, including price changes and accurate signage
• Support front end and pharmacy ordering, monitoring manual orders and maintaining consigned inventory
• Ensure designated pull & quarantine items are updated and placed correctly
• Maintain accurate inventory counts in all store locations
• Under pharmacist supervision, maintain accurate pharmacy inventory counts and complete smart counts
• Ensure inventory compliance with state and local laws for regulated products
• Assist in maintenance of inventory records, including receiving and posting products and organizing invoices
• Help prepare for and support physical inventory activities, including auditing
• Support keeping counters and shelves clean and well merchandised
• Assist and coach store team on all package delivery activities and Pickup Program execution
• In designated stores, when serving as leader on duty, responsible for registering sales on POS and handling cash/returns
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Complete company-based trainings and e-learning modules
• Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by state
• Serve as liaison between management and non-management, coaching on inventory systems

Requirements

• Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens OR one year of prior retail work experience
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi-task and manage execution
• Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the state

Qualifications

• Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail work experience (external candidates).

Nice to Have

• Previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate
• Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file
