The Industrial Engineer optimizes complex processes and systems to meet business objectives by eliminating waste and improving efficiency and product quality. This role also coaches and mentors on lean, continuous improvement, and industrial engineering principles.
Responsibilities
- Assess workflows and production processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
- Create integrated systems involving people, materials, and information to enhance productivity
- Implement strategies to reduce waste
- Ensure that final products meet established quality standards
- Design production layouts and review current processes for potential improvements
- Work with cross-functional teams to streamline operations
- Lead area’s continuous improvement program
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
- 3+ years manufacturing experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, and/or industrial engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of manufacturing operations
- Application of basic engineering principles for effective process troubleshooting
- Effective project coordination, teamwork, and collaboration
- Exceptional project management and change management skills
- Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and oral)
- Proficient in process modeling/mapping and statistical/data analysis tools
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies
- Ability to lead and influence groups of individuals without direct reporting lines
- Ability to perform cost-benefit analysis and track manufacturing costs for decision-making
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, with 3+ years in continuous improvement, operational excellence, and/or industrial engineering.
Nice to Have
- MS in Industrial Engineering
- Six Sigma Certification
- Lean Certification
- Strong understanding of constraint modeling and analysis, including hard and soft constraints in system design
- Experience integrating optimization models into simulation environments or enterprise systems
