Home Health Aide

About This Role

The Home Health Aide provides essential personal care, assisting patients with activities such as transfers, meal preparation, and basic medical procedures, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including complex transfers
• Prepare special diets
• Apply simple, non-sterile dressings
• Monitor vital signs
• Maintain intake and output records

Requirements

• Satisfactory completion of agency qualifying exam
• One year experience as a Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide within past two years
• Proof of at least 40 hours of training (pursuant to Florida Statute 400.497(1)) OR passed Home Health Aide two-part competency test OR certified nursing assistant with AHCA competency exam OR graduate from accredited school of nursing willing to take board exams for Florida licensure OR registered nurse/licensed practical nurse licensed in another state
• Current HIV training
• ADRD training
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (if state or program requirement)
• Possess an empathetic attitude toward patients/clients
• Ability to read and write English
• Ability to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50lbs
• Ability to stoop and bend up to 2.5 hours per 8 hour shift

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• 1 year within the past two years as a Nurse Aide in a hospital or long-term care facility OR 1 year full-time experience within the past two years (or two years part-time within the last three years) as a Home Health Aide
