About This Role

Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, motor graders, and bulldozers for a leading contractor in the defense and space manufacturing industry, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, motor graders, heavy loaders, carryalls, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments to excavate, load, or move dirt, gravel or other materials.
  • Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans.
  • Grease, adjust, and make emergency repairs to equipment.
  • Ensure work accomplished is in compliance with government regulations and all building codes.
  • Provide material requirement listing for work in government acceptable format.
  • Maintain required readings, records and documentation, operates equipment and machinery related to HEO’s duties and responsibilities in pavements and grounds operation to include crushers and chip spreaders.
  • Research and identify road surface requirements and calculate material requirements for road preservation.
  • Provide leadership to independent work groups for the accomplishment of assigned tasks.
  • Ensure quality control standards are maintained on all work performed.
  • Ensure that safe work practices and procedures are accomplished both in independent and small work groups.
  • Operate general and special purpose vehicles.
  • Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, schematics, or verbal instructions using a variety of measuring instruments and making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 4 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator
  • Ability to pass a practical skills test administered in a variety of equipment
  • Valid Nevada Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Fluent in English

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator acquired through training and or experience under a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent.
