Heavy Equipment Operator

About This Role

Operate heavy equipment to safely load, haul, and dump materials, optimizing cycle times and collaborating with team members while working independently with minimal supervision. Maintain equipment and ensure safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate various pieces of heavy equipment for loading, hauling, and dumping materials
• Safely build pioneer roads in native terrain
• Load trucks safely and efficiently; set up dumps for optimal cycle times, striping and separating of organized materials for the loading units
• Perform pre-trip inspections and complete daily Field Level Hazard Assessments for all activities
• Maintain equipment in excellent working condition, report and log maintenance needs
• Communicate effectively with team members across different disciplines

Requirements

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing
• Valid MSHA P. 48 with surface, metal and non-metal

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating various types of machinery in a general construction, heavy civil or mining environment would be an asset

Nice to Have

• Previous experience operating dozers, excavators, graders and water/haul trucks in a general construction, heavy civil or mining environment
