This Project Engineer role involves providing test support, managing test configurations, and coordinating flight logistics for spaceflight hardware destined for the International Space Station. The role ensures hardware readiness from testing through launch operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide test support for spaceflight hardware.
- Prepare and close test paperwork efficiently.
- Maintain baseline test configuration and document changes.
- Organize and track inventory of hardware components.
- Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting for failures.
- Coordinate with specialized test facilities.
- Coordinate flight logistics for articles bound for ISS.
- Generate essential documents such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP).
- Work collaboratively within a team environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited school
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in engineering or related field
- Experience with hardware testing
- Ability to work autonomously
- Self-motivated team player with adaptability
- Ability to prepare written documents and verbal presentations
- Ability to visualize and work with complex systems and problem-solve in a team
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Willingness to work off-hours/alternative shifts for tests or flight operations
- Experience with design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware
- Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the field or a related area, with experience in hardware testing.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency in assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting electrical systems
- Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis
- Experience with procedure development
- Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or other NASA agency
- Prior experience working and coordinating requirements with third party/outside vendors
- Familiarity with NASA Quality operational procedures and requirements
