Project Engineer

About This Role

This contract Project Engineer role provides engineering leadership to multidisciplinary teams, developing statements of work, managing project execution, and identifying performance metrics to meet business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, including internal and external resources and customers
• Develop statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing, and new business requirements
• Work with customers and management to obtain SOW approval
• Respond to changes to SOW, assess impact, and negotiate proposed changes to determine modifications to deliverables, resources, costs, and schedules
• Lead project execution to complete the work statement
• Identify performance metrics for projects
• Plan, identify, and coordinate resources required over the life of the project or program
• Define plans for risk mitigation and opportunity
• Compare actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned
• Provide technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 3+ years experience leading or managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 3+ years experience leading or managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects teams

Nice to Have

• Project Management Professional Certification
• Experience with proposal development and contract negotiations
• Experience with Export Compliance or International programs
• Experience developing and tracking program plans/schedules and budgets for technical projects
• Project management experience in an engineering environment
• Experience in engineering project planning or project management
• Experience supporting weapons systems
• Experience working directly with government customers
• Experience collaborating across functions and organizations
