Head Cashier

About This Role

The Head Cashier is responsible for the successful operation of the front end by cashiering, training, directing, and monitoring cashiers, while providing world-class customer service and supporting overall store operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide World Class Customer Service and a positive customer experience as the number one priority
• Train all cashiers on communicating about the {N}Power program, promoting reusable bags, educating on nutrients, and promoting store events
• Complete the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cashier closeout responsibilities
• Issue and verify cash drawers, handle returns and overrides at the front end
• Address customer complaints appropriately and ensure front end sets are full and well-maintained
• Oversee completion of the front end task list daily and maintain all register binders
• Direct cashiers to tasks during slow times at the register, perform general cashiering and check out duties
• Monitor, assign, and perform cart checks, answer the telephone, and assist in managing special orders
• Monitor, assign, and grind nut butters, and learn the location of products to direct customers
• Participate in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock as needed

Requirements

• Ability to pass food safety training courses and maintain compliance
• Excellent customer service skills
• Highly organized with great attention to detail
• Ability to take direction and follow through
• Cashier trained and able to count currency

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
• 1 year of cashiering experience and 1 year of supervising others preferred

Nice to Have

• Retail experience in a grocery or retail environment
• Natural foods background
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
