Grocery/Bulk Assistant

About This Role

This role supports the Grocery/Bulk Manager in the daily operations and profitability of the department. It involves maintaining inventory, merchandising, providing customer service, and assisting with team training.

Responsibilities

• Provide world-class customer service as a number one priority.
• Create inviting, full, and shoppable departments.
• Assist the grocery/bulk department manager in ordering for the grocery and bulk departments and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
• Assist the grocery/bulk department manager in managing margin, COGs, and overall department profitability including minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
• Ensure all in-stock products/conditions meet company standards.
• Offer and follow up on special orders.
• Merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays.
• Assist in managing as well as participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.
• Handle register functions including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, addressing customer complaints, and covering register shift changes.
• Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees.

Requirements

• Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance.
• Cashier trained and able to count currency.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
