Grocery D/F Bulk Assistant

About This Role

This role assists the Grocery/Bulk and Dairy/Frozen Managers in the successful operation and profitability of their respective departments. Key responsibilities include providing world-class customer service, maintaining accurate inventory, and merchandising products.

Responsibilities

• Provide world class customer service as a number one priority
• Assist department managers in ordering for grocery, bulk, dairy and frozen departments and maintaining accurate inventory levels
• Assist department managers in managing margin, COGs and overall department profitability, minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing
• Ensure all in-stock products/conditions meet company standards
• Offer and follow up on special orders
• Merchandise shelves, endcaps and dynamic displays
• Assist in managing and participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock
• Assist in training and monitoring of department personnel including assigning and following up on tasks
• Conduct active and passive demos
• Support store opening and closing activities including Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cash handling and cashier closeout responsibilities
• Handle register functions including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, addressing customer complaints, and covering register shift changes
• Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees

Requirements

• Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications
• Cashier trained and able to count currency

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
• 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; 1 year of experience supervising others preferred
