General Real Estate Appraiser

About This Role

Evaluate the worth of various property types for right-of-way acquisition related to highway and bridge improvements, ensuring accurate appraisals and just compensation for damages.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate methods for assessing property values
• Uncover concealed issues or omissions not reflected in plans
• Report minor plan modifications to the supervisor
• Process changes through the Right-of-Way office program if a claimant is involved
• Attend and testify at Board of View Hearings or court trials regarding appraisals and estimates of damages
• Provide technical guidance to other project team members regarding appraisal preparation
• Assist district review appraisers to assure conformance with state and federal policies, procedures, and requirements
• Conduct preliminary field investigations and estimates
• Coordinate appraisal activities with other right-of-way functions
• Provide information pertaining to departmental requirements and appraise individual properties
• Prepare correspondence pertaining to any appraising activity
• Provide prompt and accurate customer service relative to property owners' questions or complaints
• Inform property owners of their rights and Commonwealth obligations

Requirements

• Possession of an active Pennsylvania Certified General Real Estate Appraiser certification
• Possession of an active motor vehicle license
• Meet PA residency requirement
• Able to perform essential job functions
