About This Role

This role will deliver evidence-based clinical interventions and specialized counseling to incarcerated individuals, helping them overcome substance abuse issues and successfully reintegrate into society. This position aims to foster positive changes in behavior and thinking within a correctional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling and case management services to inmates
  • Oversee therapeutic community and outpatient programs
  • Conduct group meetings focused on addressing opioid use disorder and promoting recovery
  • Collaborate with other professionals
  • Attend training sessions
  • Complete necessary documentation to support the successful reentry of inmates

Requirements

  • One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor", OR
  • One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1, OR
  • Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences, OR
  • One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work, OR
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences, or a Master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work
  • 1 year of para-professional and 1 year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services, OR 1 year as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1, OR 2 years of professional experience with a bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, OR 1 year of professional experience with a master's degree in addictions science, psychology or social work
