About This Role

This full-time CDL Equipment Operator role with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation involves maintaining highway and bridge infrastructure in Elk County. The position focuses on operating heavy machinery for snow removal and various construction projects, ensuring safe travel for residents.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery for snow removal and various construction projects
• Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles
• Keep detailed records through daily logs and reports to track equipment usage and maintenance history
• Ensure the safety and efficiency of roadways

Requirements

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program (or equivalent); OR Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; OR An equivalent combination of experience and training
• Active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed
• Active Medical Examiner’s Certificate
• Ability to obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders, and two additional pieces of construction equipment, within the probationary period
• Ability to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment
• Ability to operate vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission
• Subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations
• Ability to perform essential job functions

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Entry level with training or equivalent experience.
