About This Role

This role involves providing direct patient care as a Registered Nurse in the general operating room, utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, and implementation of patient care. The position requires independent clinical nursing skills and effective communication to coordinate care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to assigned patients under general supervision
• Compile database and formulate nursing diagnosis for patient assessment
• Initiate and update written nursing plan of care for patients
• Perform clinical nursing skills independently
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments appropriately and accurately
• Delegate and coordinate duties of ancillary personnel
• Communicate patient's status and plan of care through written documentation and verbal updates to health care professionals
• Apply teaching/learning principles in education of patient and family
• Manage daily patient assignment by setting priorities
• Participate in clinical monitoring and identify unit, staff, and patient care problems

Requirements

• Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
• Healthcare Provider CPR biennial
• Additional certifications (i.e. ACLS, PALS, NRP) for specialty care areas
• One-year Registered Nurse experience
• Proficiency in developing nursing plan of care, implementing effective nursing care, and evaluating outcome of nursing intervention
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective planning and organizational skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Effective skills in use of computer programs
• Skill in patient experience and service recovery

Qualifications

• Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
• One-year Registered Nurse experience required
