About This Role

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will assist in supervising day-to-day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, and managing schedules for a retail environment. This role involves developing operational plans and identifying training opportunities to foster team growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
  • Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
  • Monitor the competitive environment and inform the direct leader of necessary adjustments
  • Provide product feedback, including recommendations for new or discontinued items
  • Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel
  • Ensure store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies
  • Ensure appropriate resolution of operational customer concerns in direct leader’s absence
  • Identify and rectify hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics and maintaining store equipment
  • Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper store signage
  • Assist the direct leader with maintaining proper stock levels through product ordering
  • Merchandise product neatly to maximize sales
  • Ensure the quality and freshness of products for sale and accuracy of product signage
  • Assist with achieving the store payroll and total loss budget, inventory counts, and training new employees
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the team, escalating issues as necessary

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to stock merchandise weighing up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to safely and properly operate equipment including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment; Prior management experience preferred
