As an Assistant Store Manager, you will assist in supervising day-to-day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, and managing schedules for a retail environment. This role involves developing operational plans and identifying training opportunities to foster team growth.
Responsibilities
- Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
- Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
- Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
- Monitor the competitive environment and inform the direct leader of necessary adjustments
- Provide product feedback, including recommendations for new or discontinued items
- Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel
- Ensure store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies
- Ensure appropriate resolution of operational customer concerns in direct leader’s absence
- Identify and rectify hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics and maintaining store equipment
- Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper store signage
- Assist the direct leader with maintaining proper stock levels through product ordering
- Merchandise product neatly to maximize sales
- Ensure the quality and freshness of products for sale and accuracy of product signage
- Assist with achieving the store payroll and total loss budget, inventory counts, and training new employees
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the team, escalating issues as necessary
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to stock merchandise weighing up to 45 pounds
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
- Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
- Ability to safely and properly operate equipment including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and multi-task
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment; Prior management experience preferred
