As an Assistant Store Manager, you will supervise day-to-day store activities, ensuring overall performance and managing schedules for a thriving retail environment. This role involves developing operational plans and identifying training opportunities to foster team growth and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
- Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
- Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
- Monitor the competitive environment and inform the direct leader of necessary adjustments
- Provide product feedback to the direct leader, including recommendations for new or discontinued items
- Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel
- Ensure store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies
- Ensure an appropriate resolution of operational customer concerns in the direct leader’s absence
- Identify and rectify hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics and maintaining store equipment
- Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper store signage at all times
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to provide and lead others to provide prompt and courteous customer service
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
- Ability to establish goals, guide employee performance, and evaluate performance
- Ability to understand and apply management principles concerning budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses
- Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
- Ability to safely and properly operate equipment like electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and multi-task, following instructions and giving attention to detail
- Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment, prior management experience preferred
