Food Service Attendant, Nutrition Services

About This Role

This role involves assembling, serving, and delivering food, as well as performing sanitation activities within patient and dining areas for Nutrition Services, with a focus on evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Plate food items and assemble patient meal trays, including add-on sheet items and tube feeding items.
• Prepare food items for all areas following standardized recipes and production methods.
• Ensure area and equipment maintenance to accepted standards and quality.
• Load and operate dishwashing equipment, including daily temperature checks.
• Perform assigned cleaning and sanitizing duties, including operating a floor washing machine.
• Maintain and properly stock all necessary food and supply items, ensuring labeling and dating rules are followed.
• Use and mix chemicals safely, labeling all secondary bottles.
• Assist with patient tray delivery and retrieval, and collect patient menus on assigned units.
• Assist patients with menu completion using hard copy menus or laptops.
• Perform inventory of food and supplies for assigned units, assemble and deliver them.
• Take temperatures of assigned refrigerators and freezers and document as required.
• Perform procedures in retail areas according to State and hospital guidelines, including serving/portioning food and preparing items to order.
• Take refrigeration temperatures and hot/cold food temperatures to assure proper storage and serving temperatures.
• Order, collect, and restock food supplies in assigned areas.
• Display and label food items using menu boards and POS signage.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write
• At least 16 years of age

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or GED) strongly preferred.
• Prior satisfactory work experience is desired.
