About This Role

Manage the day-to-day operations of a landfill site, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance. This role involves overseeing site performance, productivity, and cost management, while adhering to environmental and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the District’s day-to-day operations and provide daily support to drivers in ensuring safety, service, and savings
  • Execute necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with Company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations
  • Ensure thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following up with consistent coaching and retraining
  • Oversee department personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance
  • Manage termination, compensation, and promotion decisions
  • Formulate short-term and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the Senior District Manager and/or Director of Collection Operations
  • Participate in regular P&L reviews to ensure that budgets are met; develop and implement programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs
  • Interact with local city, municipal, and county agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new contracts; establish WM as a good corporate citizen and valued resource

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree, High School Diploma or GED with 2 years relevant work experience
  • 2 years in a supervisory and/or P&L responsibility role
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Experience in at least 2 of the following: operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and human resource function
  • Experience as a supervisor or manager
  • Experience implementing safety (OSHA) programs and equipment specifications
  • Experience preparing and managing budgets
  • Experience resolving labor relations issues

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree, High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • 2 years in a role with supervisory and/or P&L responsibility.
