About This Role

This role involves developing and overseeing resident services by planning and coordinating opportunities in a senior living community that promote residents' health, wellbeing, engagement, and growth. This position leads lifestyle programs, manages events, and supervises department staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for residents
  • Plan appropriate programs for holidays and special events
  • Recruit and develop additional resources for services to residents, initiating correspondence with outside organizations, service groups, and volunteers
  • Advise and motivate residents regarding appropriate individual and group activities based on interests and growth opportunities
  • Prepare and organize a calendar of events, submitting it for final approval, posting, and distributing it
  • Develop and print the community newsletter
  • Provide leadership for the lifestyle program
  • Coordinate the community library
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary guidelines
  • Prepare preliminary draft of Celebrations Operating Budget
  • Organize and supervise a volunteer staff
  • Address resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest
  • Maintain a database and prepare reports on resident quality assurance assessments, participation, and satisfaction
  • Supervise staff of Recreation and Event Coordinators across multiple levels of service in a retirement community
  • Participate in community in-services
  • Demonstrate competence in Federal, State, and Local regulations for skilled nursing, assisted living, and/or independent living, ensuring compliance
  • Develop, facilitate, and analyze resident surveys to determine ongoing activities that meet resident interests
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate appropriate mixed group activities
  • Develop and facilitate daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms, and other communication centers
  • Maintain a robust public relations program in support of activities programming and community relations
  • Implement and facilitate a volunteer recognition program

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, Adult Education
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • 2 years supervisory/management experience
