About This Role

The Resident Care Director serves as a nursing leader, managing the resident care team and coordinating care delivery in a senior living community. This role ensures optimal resident care by liaising with healthcare professionals and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the resident care team
  • Coordinate care and service delivery to residents
  • Liaison with hospital personnel, physicians, community organizations, and health-related service agencies
  • Oversight and implementation of resident care programs
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Board of Nursing licensing requirements
  • Model core company values
  • Promote resident health and wellness by partnering with various care providers
  • Ensure provision of services and validate compliance with Federal and State policies governing resident care
  • Establish rapport with residents, families, and associates
  • Make routine resident care rounds
  • Complete resident assessments twice per year or as conditions change
  • Responsible for the appropriate retention of residents and tracking/reporting quality data
  • Deliver direct resident care and supervision of direct care associates
  • Delegate assignments based on demonstrated skill capability
  • Coordinate departmental schedule and ensure adequate staffing
  • Interview, hire, evaluate, motivate, and monitor performance of care associates
  • Conduct orientation for new resident care team members
  • Oversee continuing education programs for direct care associates
  • Hold resident care team associates accountable through coaching or corrective actions
  • Provide education and training on resident care policy, procedure, and regulation
  • Provide oversight of the community medication management program
  • Conduct interviews and observations of residents to alert appropriate individuals of changes in health
  • Consult other departments for an interdisciplinary approach to residents’ needs
  • Measure outcomes, set goals, and lead the care team to achieve outcomes
  • Maintain regular communication with the Executive Director
  • Strive to maintain a safe working environment
  • Drive a company vehicle

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ college in human services or health care field
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing resident care to the elderly
  • Minimum of one (1) year nursing management experience
  • Experience with resident assessment and care planning
  • Certified in CPR and first aid
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and prevention of disease transmission
  • Ability to understand and conceptualize complex concepts
  • High level communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to show compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours, including on-call
  • Proficient in basic office equipment, including a personal computer
  • Valid and acceptable driving record

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ college in human services or health care field required; holds an unencumbered state license as a professional Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing resident care to the elderly, or similarly related experience with specialized memory care programs. Minimum of one (1) year nursing management experience.

Nice to Have

  • Unencumbered state license as a professional Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Willingness to become trained and/or certified in state assessments and service plans
