Culinary Intern

About This Role

The Culinary Intern will prepare a variety of food items, ensuring adherence to production guidelines and food safety standards. This role will involve setting up workstations, preparing ingredients, operating various kitchen equipment, and maintaining a positive demeanor with guests and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
• Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
• Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
• Safely use a variety of utensils including knives
• Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
• Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
• Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
• Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
• Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.

Requirements

• Experience as a cook or in a related role
• Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations
• Ability to acquire food safety certification
• Basic math and counting skills
• Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
