Clinical Lab Scientist

About This Role

Interpret and report test results, performing routine and complex technical laboratory analyses to generate data for patient diagnosis and treatment. This role focuses on chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of laboratory tests from simple blood tests to more complex tests
• Interpret test reports and communicate findings to physicians
• Escalate unusual, critical or abnormal results
• Operate complex electronic equipment, computers and precision instruments
• Maintain accuracy of equipment and reagents by performing established preventive maintenance procedures
• Assist providers in choosing appropriate lab tests
• Perform and evaluate quality control procedures
• Operate, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot instruments
• Assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials
• Review current literature and attend meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education
• Ability to perform full range of laboratory tests
• Proficient in interpreting test reports
• Ability to operate complex electronic equipment, computers and precision instruments
• Able to maintain accuracy of equipment and reagents
• Ability to perform and evaluate quality control procedures
• Able to operate, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot instruments
• Able to assist with proper storage of hazardous materials

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education
