Certified Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

This role involves assisting pharmacists in practicing pharmacy according to state and federal regulations, utilizing pharmacy systems to process prescriptions in a retail setting, and ensuring a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues
• Develop strong relationships with valuable customers
• Perform duties including utilizing pharmacy systems for data entry, filling prescriptions, and verifying medication accuracy
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to quality improvement programs
• Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services
• Assist and support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals
• Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collecting blood/urine samples
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly Pharmacy Department stocked with adequate supplies

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
