Certified Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

Assist pharmacists in managing the pharmacy, processing prescriptions, and providing excellent customer service in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems (if PTCB certified)
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions
• Perform duties as assigned, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying correctness, and checking for interactions
• Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures for quality improvement
• Strictly adhere to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for overages, shortages, errors, or damaged goods
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including blood/urine sample collection
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing relationships with the local medical community
• Maintain a clean, neat and orderly Pharmacy Department with adequate supplies
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification
• Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager, acquiring continuing education credits

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
