Certified Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

The Certified Pharmacy Technician performs general clerical and technical duties under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, ensuring effective delivery of pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

• Perform general clerical duties including cash register operation, cash handling, member eligibility verification, bookkeeping, filing and general supply maintenance
• Perform technical duties under supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, including entering prescription and allergy data, typing prescription labels, retrieving, counting, packaging, and labeling medication, and retrieving refill requests
• Assist with inventory control, purchasing, pharmaceutical returns, return-to-stock, shelf cleanliness, product rotation and maintenance
• Serve members in a friendly, courteous and expedient manner which promotes member satisfaction and retention
• Work in conjunction with medical records and nursing staff to collect and disseminate prescription related information
• Orient and instruct new pharmacy personnel regarding department policies and procedures in conjunction with supervisor or under supervisor's direction
• Participate in patient education programs as appropriate
• May have specific clinical pharmacy service responsibilities such as patient enrollment, telecommunication, written patient communication, laboratory data retrieval, processing reports, collecting data for quality improvement projects, maintaining filing, and handling administrative office activities
• Attend pharmacy education or training programs as appropriate
