About This Role

Serve beverages and food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction. This role also involves preparing drinks for other servers and acting as a cashier for the lounge.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests courteously, promote and document drink orders
  • Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and portion control
  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily, including requisitioning and stocking all beer, wine, spirits, and supplies
  • Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing fresh fruit, vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily
  • Receive cash from guests, make change, verify charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed to balance all moneys
  • Lock up and store all beverages, food, and equipment, deposit cash drops, and secure bank
  • Answer bar phone within three rings and correctly and courteously take room service orders
  • Input orders into a register at the point of sale and create checks for all guests to maintain accountability of all beverages served
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security rules

Requirements

  • Knowledge of all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • Current Food Handler Card
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes
  • Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions and vouchers
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock
  • Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate simple instructions
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions for safe application of products and processes within the hotel
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items
  • Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker
  • Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift fifty (30) pounds maximum
  • Constant standing & walking required
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling
