Assistant Store Manager

About This Role

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will assist with supervising day-to-day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, and managing schedules. You will also develop operational action plans and identify training opportunities to foster team growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results.
• Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.
• Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports.
• Monitor the competitive environment and inform the direct leader of necessary adjustments.
• Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel.
• Ensure store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling, and cash control policies.
• Supervise the day-to-day operations of the team, escalating issues as needed.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper store signage.
• Merchandise product neatly to maximize sales and ensure product quality and freshness.
• Assist with achieving store payroll, total loss budget, inventory counts, and training new employees.

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to provide and lead others in prompt and courteous customer service
• Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
• Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
• Ability to safely and properly operate equipment including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment. Prior management experience preferred.
