As an Assistant Store Manager, you will supervise day-to-day store activities, ensure overall store performance, manage schedules, and develop operational action plans. This role focuses on optimizing store operations and fostering team development.
Responsibilities
- Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
- Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
- Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
- Understand, communicate, and model company strategy and core values to foster teamwork
- Monitor the competitive environment and inform the direct leader of necessary adjustments
- Provide product feedback, including recommendations for new or discontinued items
- Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel
- Ensure store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies
- Ensure appropriate resolution of operational customer concerns in the direct leader’s absence
- Identify and rectify hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics and maintaining store equipment
- Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper store signage
- Assist the direct leader with maintaining proper stock levels through appropriate product ordering
- Merchandise product neatly to maximize sales
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years progressive retail experience
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to provide and lead others in prompt and courteous customer service
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
- Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance
- Ability to evaluate and drive performance
- Ability to understand and apply management principles
- Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
- Ability to safely and properly operate equipment including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, cardboard baler
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and multi-task
- Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment; prior management experience preferred
