As an Assistant Store Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day store operations, ensuring performance, managing schedules, and developing the team, contributing to the overall success of the store.
Responsibilities
- Assist with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
- Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
- Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
- Communicate and model core values to foster teamwork
- Monitor the competitive environment and provide feedback to direct leader
- Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel
- Ensure store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling, and cash control policies
- Resolve operational customer concerns in direct leader's absence
- Identify and rectify hazards, maintain proper ergonomics and store equipment
- Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper store signage
- Assist with maintaining proper stock levels and merchandise product neatly
- Ensure quality and freshness of products and accuracy of signage
- Supervise day-to-day team operations, escalating issues as necessary
- Ensure direct reports complete assigned responsibilities for customer service
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years progressive retail experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to provide and lead others in customer service
- Ability to develop rapport and trust with direct reports
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
- Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance
- Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others
- Ability to understand and apply management principles (budgeting, personnel costs, expenses)
- Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
- Ability to operate equipment safely (electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, cardboard baler)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and multi-task
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment
