About This Role

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day store operations, ensuring performance, managing schedules, and developing the team, contributing to the overall success of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
  • Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
  • Communicate and model core values to foster teamwork
  • Monitor the competitive environment and provide feedback to direct leader
  • Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel
  • Ensure store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling, and cash control policies
  • Resolve operational customer concerns in direct leader's absence
  • Identify and rectify hazards, maintain proper ergonomics and store equipment
  • Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper store signage
  • Assist with maintaining proper stock levels and merchandise product neatly
  • Ensure quality and freshness of products and accuracy of signage
  • Supervise day-to-day team operations, escalating issues as necessary
  • Ensure direct reports complete assigned responsibilities for customer service

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years progressive retail experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to provide and lead others in customer service
  • Ability to develop rapport and trust with direct reports
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
  • Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance
  • Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others
  • Ability to understand and apply management principles (budgeting, personnel costs, expenses)
  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to operate equipment safely (electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, cardboard baler)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment
