This role supports the Dining Services Director in leading a culinary team to provide high-quality, nutritious meals for senior residents. The Assistant Dining Services Director balances administrative tasks like scheduling and inventory with hands-on kitchen and dining room leadership. This position ensures dining operations focus on hospitality, safety, and healthcare regulations, providing an exceptional dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Support the Dining Services Director in leading the culinary team
- Provide high-quality, nutritious, and appetizing meals for residents
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling and inventory management
- Lead hands-on in the kitchen and dining room
- Ensure dining operations adhere to hospitality, safety, and healthcare regulations
- Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals in a safe and sanitary manner, in accordance with Public Health Regulations and Sanitation Code
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, meeting HACCP, local health department, and state regulatory requirements
- Practice safe usage of all equipment and perform cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance as outlined in schedules
- Set tables, pour beverages, clear and clean dishes in the dining rooms daily
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-3 years of culinary or dining management experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or high-end hospitality
- Current ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to read and write English
- Active and valid driver's license
- Willingness and ability to work varied shifts and weekends
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, ordering systems)
- Passion for serving the senior population
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Ability to stand and walk short distances throughout the day
- Ability to tolerate heat from the kitchen
- Food safety compliant
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of culinary or dining management experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or high-end hospitality
