Armed Part Time Security Officer

About This Role

Protect the site's buildings, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors against criminal activity and emergencies. Provide outstanding customer service and enforce security policies at a local pharmaceutical company in Grand Rapids.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service
• Observe and report activities and incidents
• Guard posts in building lobbies, reception areas, and control centers
• Conduct periodic foot patrols to check for irregularities and unsafe conditions
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors
• Enforce site policies and procedures
• Check for employee and vendor identifications
• Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities
• Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, and other emergencies

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old or older
• High School Diploma or GED
• Current, valid Concealed Pistol License
• Good moral character, with no felony convictions or specific misdemeanor convictions
• Pass a 5-panel drug screen
• Reliable vehicle
• Valid driver's license with no more than 2 moving violations in past 3 years and no alcohol related infractions in past 5 years
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
• Ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner
• Ability to read and write the English language and interpret documents
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
• Flexible schedule
• Impeccable grooming
• Physically and mentally sound
• Able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Entry level, prior law enforcement, military, or security experience preferred. 2 years of law enforcement experience preferred.
