Armed Security Officer

About This Role

This role involves protecting a military site's building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors from criminal activity, primarily by controlling access points and conducting patrols. The Armed Security Officer will serve as a critical point of contact while working within a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Guard posts at the entry/exit points of the local military base
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas
• Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications
• Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities
• Follow site-specific post guidelines
• Document daily activities and report all incidents

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older
• Must have a current, valid State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License
• Must have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent
• May NOT have any felony convictions
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Must be able to successfully pass a drug test
• Must be a citizen of the United States of America
• Must have impeccable grooming (adhere to Appearance and Grooming policy)
• Must present a friendly, positive, professional image
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner
• Ability to read and write the English language and interpret documents
• Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license
• Clean driving record (less than 3 moving violations in 3 years, less than 2 at-fault accidents in 3 years, no major violations in 3 years)
• Physically and mentally sound
• Able to sit, stand or walk for the duration of the shift
• Able to respond to emergency situations
• Able to work in or outdoors during all seasons
• Able to hear conversations in noisy environments
• Able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or armed security is preferred but not required.
