About This Role

Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population in an urgent care setting, adhering to established standards and coordinating with the healthcare team. This role requires quick prioritization and critical thinking skills to manage a wide variety of emergent and urgent conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing assessment of nursing care needs for defined patient groups using the nursing process and diagnose needs
  • Develop and modify written care plans for patient care, collaborating with the healthcare team
  • Determine priorities of patient care based on patient needs and available resources
  • Provide safe and competent nursing interventions, informing patients and families prior to procedures
  • Offer telephone consultation to patients and family members
  • Evaluate patient responses to care, anticipating and recognizing changes in status
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care tailored to the needs of neonatal to geriatric populations, demonstrating effective communication skills
  • Collaborate, communicate, and coordinate with other healthcare team members for planning and implementing care
  • Assess needs for patients requiring hospitalization, initiating admission databases and discharge planning
  • Communicate recognition of psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs in nurse-patient interactions
  • Orient patients and families to the role of healthcare professionals and available nursing services, reinforcing patient rights
  • Identify patient educational needs and develop educational components for care plans, providing teaching and counseling congruent with needs
  • Assess patient lifestyle risk factors and integrate health promotion/preventive aspects into care
  • Promote patient self-care responsibility for health needs and adhere to documentation, safety, and infection control standards
  • Participate in continued education programs, staff orientation, and student education activities
  • Collaborate with managers on performance reviews and assure quality of care through professional nursing standards and QA activities

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Ability to prioritize quickly
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Clinical judgement to provide emergent and urgent care
  • Ability to work collaboratively with providers and staff
