Accounting Specialist

About This Role

This Accounting Specialist role involves accurately processing accounts payable and receivable, managing invoices and payments, and supporting month-end closing activities for a family-owned company in the public safety sector. The role requires strong attention to detail and consistent, reliable work.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and in a timely manner
• Enter, verify, and post invoices, payments, credits, and adjustments in QuickBooks
• Prepare and issue customer invoices and statements
• Post daily cash, check, and credit card transactions
• Prepare daily bank deposits and assist with basic reconciliations
• Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on past-due accounts
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding billing questions and overdue payments
• Research and resolve discrepancies efficiently
• Generate AR/AP reports and support month-end closing activities
• Assist with basic HR and benefits-related administrative tasks
• Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable
• QuickBooks experience
• Working knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Comfortable working independently and following established processes
• Professional communication skills (phone, email, and in person)

Qualifications

• Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable
