About This Role

Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and selecting proper technical factors. This role involves operating X-ray equipment and performing administrative duties to ensure quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, shielding, and selecting proper technical factors.
  • Select and operate equipment as required for specific procedures.
  • Gather relevant information from medical records, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety.
  • Restrict radiation beam through proper and safe collimation in accordance with ALARA principles.
  • Perform portable X-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
  • Identify patient's images safely with name and MRN#, and correctly mark images as to the side taken.
  • Process and reconstruct all images using available methods.
  • Maintain an orderly X-ray room, including ordering and maintaining proper and adequate supplies.
  • Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist providers in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients.
  • Perform administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instruction, record maintenance, and reception of patients.
  • Render services and/or assistance to patients in moving, turning, and getting on/off X-ray tables.
  • Perform specific daily and monthly QA.
  • Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs
  • Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification
  • NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R.)
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs, and completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
