About This Role

Join Schuff Steel as a Production Welder, contributing expertise to complex and high-profile commercial building, bridge, and industrial projects. This role involves skilled welding of various materials using multiple techniques, crucial to the production process and requiring certifiable proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Follow applicable welding procedures (AWS, AISC)
• Weld on the ground level, above ground, and below ground, in any required position
• Chip, peen, and grind material to prepare for welding or finish
• Weld structural, bridge, and industrial materials such as plates, sheets, girders, and tanks
• Perform gouging and scarfing as needed
• Pass welding tests in accordance with AWS D1.1
• Transport material by crane as needed
• Keep work area organized and clean
• Adhere to all safety rules and PPE requirements

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 12 months of stable work experience
• Ability to pass required weld test (AWS D1.1)
• Proficiency in FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and SAW welding techniques
• Knowledge of common heat reactions of structural metals
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 12 months of stable work experience
