Welder I

About This Role

The Welder I fabricates or repairs structures, machine parts, and plant/shipboard equipment using arc welding equipment. This role involves interpreting drawings, schematics, and sketches, and executing projects from verbal directions.

Responsibilities

• Sets up job site with welding equipment according to standards
• Ensures and maintains productivity in workforce by assisting welders as needed
• Maintains job site safety by adhering to Trident and government safety standards
• Learns to troubleshoot welding equipment problems
• Maintains flow of materials needed on jobs
• Introduced to welding and fabrication, schematics, drawings, blueprints, measurements, cleaning workpieces, welding hoses, and cables
• Welds structural and non-structural steel and metal parts together using stick welding
• Capable of basic parts fitting for welding
• Proficient at utilizing measuring devices and cutting materials to specifications
• Knowledgeable of proper rigging procedures
• Proficient in the use of bandsaws, grinders, needle guns, and basic mechanical skills

Requirements

• 1 year experience in SMAW or dual shield welding
• Ability to weld both structural and nonstructural steel
• Ability to pass Trident’s 3G/4G Flux Core test at start of employment

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in SMAW or dual shield welding

Nice to Have

• One year certificate from college or technical school
• High school diploma or equivalent GED, Associate Degree or skilled trades graduate preferred for more experienced positions
