Warehouse Janitor

About This Role

Effectively perform general cleaning and upkeep duties for an office building including vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, gathering trash, servicing and cleaning restrooms, cleaning glass, dusting furniture and equipment, and mixing water & detergents to prepare cleaning solutions. This role ensures the building is clean and in an orderly condition and reports to the shift supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
• Gather and empty trash
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
• Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks, Sit-Down forklift, or Scissor Lift
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 6 months experience
• Basic Knowledge of repair techniques, or job training alongside an experienced custodian

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED)
• At least 6 months experience

• Finishing/Refinishing Floors
• Forklift Driver (Sit-Down forklift and Scissor Lift)
• Operate a Floor Scrubber
