This role will educate healthcare providers and their staff on patient pharmacy benefit coverage, prior authorization processes, and affordability programs for specialty products. It involves navigating payer reimbursement processes to support the initiation of client products, ensuring patient access to prescribed treatments.
Responsibilities
- Engage healthcare providers and staff to educate on access to prescribed treatments within the specialty pharmacy channel
- Address questions about initial access, insurance approval, and reauthorizations pertaining to product initiation
- Educate HCP office staff about prior authorization and appeals processes, including forms and submission procedures
- Identify and resolve patient access and reimbursement issues within assigned geography compliantly and proactively
- Provide factual process information to HCP offices utilizing Personal Health Information (PHI) with patient consent
- Serve as a reimbursement expert for the patient support services team for assigned geography/plans
- Utilize approved resources and call guides/FAQs to provide education and answer questions
- Conduct ongoing payer policy reviews and contribute local, regional, and national policy insights
- Virtually manage assigned accounts and align with Field Access Managers (FAM) on support needs
- Document call details with attention to data integrity to ensure compliance with program policies
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience in reimbursement and patient access, market access, specialty pharmacy, or physician/system account management
- Experience engaging HCP staff to educate on access pathways and product requirements
- Experience navigating payer reimbursement process, preferably Medicare Part D
- Experience with specialty products acquired through specialty pharmacy networks
- Patient-centric and service-oriented mindset, with high emotional intelligence and empathy
- Exemplary interpersonal and listening skills
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
- Strong business acumen
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Qualifications
- BS/BA Degree
- 3+ years of relevant experience in reimbursement and patient access, market access, specialty pharmacy, or physician/system account management
