About This Role

The Vascular Access Nurse (RN) specializes in the insertion, maintenance, and removal of various vascular access devices under the supervision of the Director of the Intensive Care Unit. This role ensures safe and effective intravenous therapy, minimizes complications, and supports optimal patient care across acute settings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform insertion of difficult PIVCs, Midlines, and Bedside PICC insertions utilizing Vascular Access Decision Tree.
  • Provide care and maintenance of vascular access devices including dressing changes, troubleshooting, and removal.
  • Educate patients and families on device care, warning signs, and proper maintenance.
  • Act as a consultative liaison, interfacing with physicians, radiology, and case management for VAD placement and patient discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from a Graduate school of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Missouri or compact state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 2 years of IV Therapy experience

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree-Graduate school of Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree - Nursing Diploma or Degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
  • 2 Years of IV Therapy experience, with Midline training preferred.
